1703

On June 17, John Wesley is born at Epworth, Lincolnshire, England

1729

John & Charles Wesley lead the Holy Club of "Methodists" at Oxford University

1735-37

John & Charles Wesley are missionaries to the Georgia Colony

1738

On May 24, John Wesley's Aldersgate Street Experience - his heart was "strangely warmed" during the reading of Luther's preface to Paul's letter to the Romans

1739, 1743

Methodist societies are founded in England. Wesley's Rules are published; the first Discipline is produced; first quadrennial General Conference

1791

On March 2 - John Wesley died in London The Circuit Riders served as the people's first ministers


1886

First Methodist Church of Melbourne is formally organized - meeting the first Sunday of each month at the Izant Hotel and sponsored by the Georgiana Methodist Church.

1888

First building cost $1,000 - one room on New Haven Avenue by the railroad tracks

1890

Flourishing Sunday School

1893

First Pastoral Appointment by the Jacksonville District

1894

We had our first revival service

1904

The Church building was moved one block west

1912

We have a seven room parsonage

1922

Three Sunday School Rooms were added

1926-27

Educational Building was constructed at Strawbridge - Waverly-Palmetto; partially completed - 2nd floor gym area was converted to a Sanctuary

1936

Wurlitzer pipe organ was donated to the church. Our membership is 200

1939

An elevator was installed

1943

$16,000 mortgage is cleared

1944

Eight room debt-free parsonage is purchased on Oak Street

1958

Easter Sunday - first service held in present Sanctuary - membership 1,000

1959

East Wing of Sunday School and Social Hall constructed Day School began

1960

West Wing of Sunday School constructed

1961

Riverside Drive, Indialantic parsonage donated

1969

Purchase of Fairway Drive parsonage

1975

Construction of Forest Drive parsonage

1982

Chapel and Educational complex constructed

1986

Year-long Centennial Celebration; published History and cookbook

1987

Memory Garden is established

1989

Chancel Area is renovated

1994

Life Enrichment Center is dedicated

1995

9:25 Alive Contemporary Service is initiated

2002

Independently constructed a Habitat for Humanity House

2003

Celebrate Jesus Mission

2004

New audio, video and lighting system installed in Sanctuary

First Mission to our Sister Church, Gibara Methodist Church in Cuba
