Vision and Purpose

Our Vision is to be a community of believers in Jesus Christ reaching out to help all people experience the joy and fullness of God’s presence.

Though First Church has been around for almost 120 years, we are a community of faith full of energy! We are committed to sharing the love of God where God has placed us. Our focus to be servants of Jesus Christ is implemented in five areas of ministry: Worship, Discipleship, Outreach/Evangelism, Service and Missions, and Fellowship.

Worship

Our priority is to please God in worship and praise. Though we work for excellence in worship, our primary purpose is not to please people. We pray that folks will be "fed" in worship but our first call is to please God not ourselves.

Discipleship

Worship means little if it is not life-changing and calls us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. To that end we offer opportunities in Spiritual Formation. Personal spiritual growth should be a priority for every Christian. The best tools for spiritual growth are Discipleship Teachings and Small Groups. It is through small groups, Sunday School Classes, Ministry Groups, Accountability Groups, that we truly become connected to this loving place.

Outreach

We want to show our passion for our Lord both as individuals and as community. Jesus calls us to go into all the world and share the Gospel. This ministry team works to maintain an inviting spirit to the Greater Melbourne/Palm Bay community. We take advantage of larger community events to share our invitation to a LOVING PLACE that desires all to experience the joy and fullness of God's presence.

Service and Missions

First Church seeks to be a servant church, relieving suffering as we reach people with the Gospel message. Opportunities to serve are numerous and vary from helping to set up for meetings to going to Cuba on a mission to our sister church. We can't be the Church of Jesus Christ without serving others and giving aid and comfort to those in need. Our mission also includes ministering to those who are not able to physically participate in our ministries due to illness or disability.

Fellowship

The Holy Spirit works in the community through fellowship. The community gathers to be supportive in times of pain and in times of joy. Hospitality is an important tool in maintaining a "loving place." From planning and supporting events in Celebrations Cafe to helping with major meal gatherings, this team assures that we are effective in preparing a place for fellowship.
