First Church is launching a new initiative that better uses the internet--and we need you! We've worked hard over the last few years to build a complete static site that shows what's available at our church. Building on this foundation, we are now launching Web Ministries, a project designed to teach lots of people how to use our site and make new content. If you've ever wanted to know more about how the internet works, then come learn with us, help us reach out and spread the word about who we are.
Use the web to tell our church's story, to show those outside our fold who we are and what we believe. For those on the inside, we want to better communicate and show what's happenning and what's available.
We want to teach and build expertise in building and managing the internet as a medium. The web has so much to offer and we want to train many people to edit our website and build projects that ourteach and communicate our church's mission. Our website can be a dynamic, ever-changing, living tool we use to share who we are. Works revealing faith.
We seek many people of all skill levels to help us begin this dynamic work.
Assign and manage people to stories, events and projects, follow-up, edit and approve for publication.
Writers and reporters will be the lifeblood of the ministry. By writing stories and articles you'll cover events, tell what small groups are doing, and promote and then report on church and community events. Tell stories that illustrate who we are by showing what we, as a church, do.
Learn the craft, edit and manage our site and develop new projects. Add art and media, publish content and maintain pages. From just helping out to internship opportunities for those interested in the web and media as a career-track, we'd love to increase our church's skillset and outreach.
By building upon our static site, we write about news and events, tell stories (our own and those who witness to us), and spread the word about all the things we do. It's about faith. It's about sharing that faith. And it's about works.
This can be like a journalism club or the school yearbook. It can work like a magazine or newspaper. And it can work like a ministry, where we all use our gifts to better paint the picture that is First Church.
